Item CA13/926 Wine Table SOLD

This classical Ming style wine table retains much of its original dark lacquer. The simple straight apron and apron-head spandrels in the form of a cloud motif have a beaded outline. The spandrels are not carved flat, but slightly convex—another detail of older furniture. The splayed rounded legs are supported with front and side stretchers, giving the appearance of strength and stability, qualities esteemed by the Chinese.
