Item #13511/923  Rose Chair SOLD

One of a pair of low back armchairs known as meiguiyi, or ‘rose’ chairs. The back is carved with dragons and the longevity symbol, shou; the open or negative space of the back is like a lobed window. The lower back and sides are contained by a railing. The hump in the top rail is echoed in the side arms. Elm wood, late 18^th or early 19^th century, China. Size: 22 x 17 x 38 high (seat height is 20")
