Item X54/576 ‘Crusher’ Pedestal
Originally this pedestal formed part of a system used to crush sugar cane in the Phiippines. Made of molave wood, one of the densest woods in the world, the pedestal is quite heavy and very stable. These crusher pedestals are often used as small tables. Currently, we have six, ranging in diameter from 14 to 16 inches, and varying in height from 23 to 27 inches. The one pictured is 15 inches in diameter and 27 inches high. These are from the 19th century
