This elegant domestic shrine with three bays is like a stage. The interior is painted with a scene which is still discernible. Above, the apron, carved in open work with lotuses and leaves in blue, green and white with gold gilding, acts like a curtain.  Early 18th century, Shanxi province, northern China. Size: 38- 1/2" x 16 deep x 36 high"
