Item CA18/882 Kang Altar Cabinet SOLD

Kang cabinets of this form are rare. The beaded, carved and curving outline of each side gives a voluptuous shape to the cabinet. The upturned ends (flanges) often indicate that the top surface was used for worship, prayer or meditation. This is why it is termed an altar piece. The brass hardware is replaced. Much of the original dark lacquer remains.
